HIGHLIGHTS: 08/08 - 22/08

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS: 08/08 -22/08

So far we’ve had 324 contributions to our map and survey, this is a good start and we’ve had some really interesting feedback, so thank you again to all those who have contributed. As school holidays draw to a close, we’re hoping to engage with more young people throughout September, so please do encourage any youngsters you know to complete the survey - they are the future. Over the next few weeks, we’ll also be encouraging businesses to give views on how their local area influences how they operate. And, as ever, we’re wanting all unrepresented voices to get involved, so that the ones influencing decisions are not just those who have the loudest voice or the biggest platform.

AND REMEMBER you can contribute to the survey more than once, and if you haven’t yet pinned a comment on the MAP, please do so!

Here are just a couple example answers of common themes cropping up:

What would improve your experience of the public transport in your local area?

“More buses, affordable fares”

What is the most important thing to you when you think about the future of your area?

“Community spirit”

We’ve been out and about again over the last couple of weeks… here’s a brief round-up of what’s been going on:

St Paul’s Church

We spoke to young families who attended the Bounty Club to better understand what day to day life in Harlow is like for them:

Eastwick & Gilston Village Hall

We spoke to people who live in the Gilston area, to better understand what they value and need in their local area. This defiant community has many members who have lived in the village for many years. Wanting to influence local planning is a key priority to them.

School Uniform Exchange

The Harlow community came together to help young families and school children find affordable and quality uniforms - ready for the new school year! We were there to listen to young families and parents give their opinion on what matters most for them and their children.

Around the World food festival

We were at the Great Parndon community centre to celebrate the multi-cultural community in Harlow. There were a range of activities taking place ranging from food and information stalls to live entertainment, workshops, and a tombola. Not to mention the resident DJ Permoson providing the good vibes!
